ANSYS Fluent Training
ANSYS Fluent is one of the most powerful and widely used CFD tools for analysing fluid flows, heat transfer and multiphysics phenomena. This course teaches you to build a mesh, define boundary and initial conditions, model complex phenomena and run accurate simulations, then exploit the results.
- Duration 2 to 3 days
- Level Beginner to intermediate
- Format On site (your premises) or online
- Price from 1100 € excl. VAT / day
- Lead time 14 days after the training agreement is signed
Learning objectives
- Navigate the ANSYS Fluent interface (Workbench and standalone) and set up a simulation project.
- Import and prepare CAD geometry suitable for simulation.
- Generate a quality mesh (surface, volume, boundary layers) with ANSYS Meshing or Fluent Meshing.
- Define materials, physical properties and boundary conditions.
- Set up and run laminar and turbulent simulations (k-epsilon, k-omega SST, RSM…).
- Run thermal simulations: conduction, convection, radiation.
- Simulate multiphase flows (bubbles, sprays, interfaces) and simple chemical reactions.
- Choose the right solver (pressure-based or density-based) and monitor convergence.
- Use post-processing: vectors, iso-surfaces, pressure and temperature profiles, reports.
- Carry out parametric analyses and design optimisation (DoE).
Syllabus
Day 1 — Preparing the model
- The Fluent workflow, project organisation, CFD best practices.
- Geometry import and clean-up, extracting the fluid domain.
- Meshing: strategies, quality control (orthogonality, skewness), prism layers, adaptive meshing.
Day 2 — Physics and solving
- Turbulence models and selection criteria; compressible and incompressible flows.
- Heat transfer and thermal boundary conditions; steady and transient regimes.
- Solver settings, numerical schemes, convergence, monitors and balance checks.
Day 3 (optional) — Advanced cases
- Multiphase flows (VOF, Mixture, Eulerian) and species transport.
- Dynamic meshing, moving reference frames, transient cases.
- Parametric studies with Workbench; automation with journals and scripts.
Audience and prerequisites
Engineers, technicians and researchers who run or interpret CFD simulations. Prerequisites: basic fluid mechanics (flow rate, pressure, pressure losses). No prior experience of Fluent is required.
Teaching methods and assessment
Short presentations, demonstrations and exercises on industrial cases (pipe bend, heat exchanger, room ventilation, external flow), course materials and corrected files, end-of-course assessment reviewed by Numersalis, certificate of completion. Participants work on their company's licences.
Why train with Numersalis?
Our instructors practise CFD simulation in a consultancy setting: beyond the software menus, they pass on a working method — assumptions, mesh checks, result validation — that applies directly to your projects.
Funding
Numersalis is Qualiopi certified: for companies based in France, our courses are eligible for funding through your OPCO training fund. We help you with the paperwork.
Accessibility
Our courses are open to people with disabilities: contact us so we can plan the adjustments you need.
Frequently asked questions
Yes. Day 1 revisits the fundamentals of numerical simulation (discretisation, meshing, convergence) before going into the tool. Experienced participants can start directly with a tailored advanced programme.
Both are presented; we focus on the one your team uses. The Fluent Meshing watertight-geometry workflow is preferred for complex geometries.
Yes, it is even recommended: a representative case sent before the session becomes the basis of the last day's exercises.
