Autodesk CFD Training
Autodesk CFD is a numerical simulation tool for fluid flows and heat transfer, closely integrated with Autodesk CAD software. This course teaches you to model fluid phenomena (air, water, various liquids), compute the physical quantities you need and optimise your product designs by analysing their real behaviour, without multiplying physical prototypes.
- Duration 2 to 3 days
- Level Beginner to intermediate
- Format On site (your premises) or online
- Price from 1100 € excl. VAT / day
- Lead time 14 days after the training agreement is signed
Learning objectives
- Prepare and import CAD models suitable for simulation, from Inventor, Revit, SolidWorks or Fusion.
- Define boundary conditions and set up materials (fluids, solids); choose the right physics models.
- Mesh the domain correctly to obtain accurate, reliable results.
- Set up and run internal flow simulations (pipework, heat exchangers, electrical cabinets) or external ones (ventilation, aerodynamics).
- Carry out heat transfer analyses: convection, conduction, radiation.
- Read, interpret and exploit results: velocity, pressure and temperature maps.
- Optimise product design through parametric analysis and multiple scenarios.
- Prepare clear, illustrated reports to communicate results.
Syllabus
Day 1 — Getting started
- Where Autodesk CFD sits in the CAD-to-simulation chain; the Design Study workflow.
- Geometry preparation: simplification, fluid volumes, interfaces.
- Materials, boundary conditions, automatic meshing and refinements.
Day 2 — Analyses and exploitation
- Internal and external flows; steady and transient regimes.
- Heat transfer: electronic components, heat exchangers, thermal comfort in buildings.
- Post-processing: cut planes, iso-surfaces, measurement points, plots; scenario comparison; reports.
Day 3 (optional) — Applied to your projects
- Parametric study of a component brought by the participants.
- Result validation method and common pitfalls.
Audience and prerequisites
Engineers, designers and project managers dealing with fluid mechanics or thermal tasks, particularly in mechanical design offices or building services. Prerequisites: basic fluid mechanics (flow rate, pressure); CAD experience is a plus.
Teaching methods and assessment
Course materials, corrected exercises, end-of-course assessment reviewed by Numersalis, certificate of completion. Participants work on their company's licences.
Why train with Numersalis?
We work in both fluid and process simulation and CAD design: the course bridges the two, so that your designers can evaluate their choices without waiting for a prototype.
Funding
Numersalis is Qualiopi certified: for companies based in France, our courses are eligible for funding through your OPCO training fund. We help you with the paperwork.
Accessibility
Our courses are open to people with disabilities: contact us so we can plan the adjustments you need.
Frequently asked questions
Yes: ventilation, thermal comfort, air diffusion and smoke extraction are typical use cases, especially with models from Revit. We adapt the exercises to your sector.
No. Geometry preparation is explained in the tool your team uses; CAD experience simply makes it easier.
Autodesk CFD favours CAD integration and fast set-up for everyday design studies; STAR-CCM+ and Fluent offer more advanced physics models. We offer courses on all three.
